Hermès HAC Haut à Courroies 40 Black Toile 2023

The Haut à Courroies is the bag from which the Kelly and the Birkin descend — Hermès' original tall, high-strapped design, and the direct ancestor of the house's most famous silhouettes. This HAC 40 reads that heritage in a rarer, more graphic register: black toile canvas paired with black Togo leather, bi-material and tonal all-black. It is the HAC at its most wearable and most understated — lighter on the shoulder, sportier in spirit, and quietly one of the scarcer configurations the model comes in.

Black Toile & Togo — The Bi-Material HAC

Toile is Hermès' signature canvas — tightly woven, hard-wearing and significantly lighter than full leather, which is exactly why the house has used it on travel bags for generations. Here the black toile body is framed with black Togo leather at the handles, flap and trim, producing a stealthy, tonal all-black finish that is far rarer than the standard full-leather HAC. The result is a bag with genuine presence that still travels light and wears every day — graphic, modern, and unmistakably Hermès. Polished palladium hardware keeps the palette cool, with the classic turn-lock, clochette and padlock completing the piece.

In the 40 size the HAC is at its most usable — still architectural and commanding, but scaled to a true everyday and short-travel bag rather than pure luggage.
