The Haut à Courroies is where the Kelly and the Birkin come from — Hermès' original tall, high-strapped travel bag, conceived to carry a rider's boots and saddle, and the direct ancestor of the house's most famous silhouettes. In the 50 size it is the fullest expression of that heritage: a commanding, architectural travel piece. This 2008 example adds the detail serious collectors chase — a Verso construction that hides a second colour inside.
Verso — Black Outside, Blue Within
Verso is Hermès' term for a bag lined in a contrasting colour. Here the exterior reads classic black while the interior opens to a deep dark blue — an unexpected, private flash of colour every time the bag is used. This particular example carries the effect further: under certain light the exterior side panels themselves take on a blue cast while the rest of the bag stays black, so the piece shifts subtly depending on how the light falls. It is a genuinely rare configuration and the kind of nuance that defines a collector's HAC rather than a standard one.
